I am so glad you are here! Finding a therapist that is the right fit can be a challenge and sometimes even scary. Let me share a little bit about myself to try and help you discover if we might work well together.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Alabama and a Nationally Certified Counselor through NBCC. I received my B.S. in Psychology from Troy University, my Master's of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Auburn University of Montgomery, and a post-graduate certificate in Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Counseling from Troy University. During my time at AUM, I interned at a children's advocacy center working with children 3 years and up and their families and my second time at Troy I did weekly infant focused family observations. I am currently in the process of obtaining hours to work towards becoming a Registered Play Therapist and am working under the supervision of Shannon Herron, LCSW, RPT-S. I completed the AutPlay certification in 2022 and am a Certified AutPlay Provider.
I view myself as a client-centered counselor and I tailor sessions to fit each individual client based on their needs and goals for therapy. I work with children age 3 and up, their families, adolescents, and adults. I utilize play therapy techniques with children in session, as play is a way for them to communicate and express themselves.
It is my firm belief, that clients deserve to be seen and heard by a caring therapist and I strive to create a safe space for all clients. It can be difficult to open up to someone about life's struggles and challenges, and it is my privilege to walk alongside my clients during that journey.
